20 Ideas for What to Write In Your Artist Newsletter
If you have an artist website, then you should have a newsletter to keep your fans updated. But finding things to write about can be a challenge. Creating art is hard, but writing about it is even harder!
You need to think about writing as just another form of art.
I have been emailing my readers for a few years now and I never seem to be lacking things to write about. To help you out, here are 20 ideas of what you can write in your artist newsletter (if you have one).
If you don’t have an artist website and you want to set one up, you can refer to my guide for setting up your own art website.
- Updates on new artworks you have created.
- Progress photos of your artworks. People love to see the process, often more so than the finished product. So start documenting.
- Upcoming exhibitions.
- Any sales you have made. This will help encourage further sales via social proof.
- Your favorite art quotes. Who doesn’t like inspirational art quotes?
- Insight into how and why you create your art. Why did you create it? Is there any meaning behind it? What does it mean to you? What will you do with it?
- Art business tips for aspiring artists. Artists struggle with the business side of things, so any assistance is often welcomed.
- Revisiting old work which may have been forgotten. There is no reason you must only talk about current works.
- New blog posts and other updates on your website.
- New products you have created such as ebooks, reference photo packages, online courses or in-person workshops.
- Features on other websites and publications.
- Failures and challenges you encounter. Talking about your own failures and challenges can help you really connect with your fans.
- Reviews of art products. In some cases, you can even earn some extra cash by promoting affiliate products you recommend. Amazon for example has one of the largest affiliate programs in the world.
- Other artists who inspire you. There is no reason you must only talk about yourself. Spread the love.
- Insights into art history and famous artists.
- Your background and where you came from.
- The reason you become an artist.
- What inspires you and how you find inspiration.
- Share artworks of your fans.
- Testimonials of your products.
- Calls to action to engage your other social media platforms. Your email list can be leveraged to grow your presence on other social media platforms.
